What if…Human waste
Posted on: March 2, 2011Ok, kind of an icky topic here but one that should be addressed. What if you were unable to use your toilet facilities at home for a considerable length of time? Let’s say a week or so at the least. Where are you going to, well, go? How will you dispose of the waste?
Sure, you could use a tree outside in a pinch but that’s going to get old in a hurry. Plus, what if you’re unable to leave your home due to fallout or some other such reason?
Composting toilets are one option. A DIY version could be a five-gallon bucket half-filled with sand, sawdust, or the equivalent. You could even install a small toilet seat to make it a bit more comfortable. Add more sand on top of the waste to help cut down on the odor. Not the greatest solution but it’ll do for the time being.
