Getting Out Alive by Scott Williams
Posted on: April 18, 2011Being that his previous book, Bug Out!, remains one of my favorite survival books, I was looking forward to Scott Williams’ new book, Getting Out Alive, with great anticipation.
It did not fail to deliver.
Getting Out Alive is not necessarily a survival “manual” in that it isn’t just a series of instructions of what to do in an emergency. Instead, each chapter focuses on one disaster scenario, putting YOU into the story. Williams crafts excellent narratives, describing in detail what you would experience in each case. Each scenario is further illustrated by including real world examples of how people survived (or didn’t). You are guided step-by-step through survival techniques as well as failures and drawbacks along the way. Each chapter closes with a list of the top ten survival tips applicable to the scenario.
The thirteen chapters cover:
Williams knows from where he speaks. He has truly “been there, done that” in all types of climates and survival conditions. He is also a gifted writer and you’ll find yourself flying through the pages in this book.
I cannot recommend Getting Out Alive any higher. Practical information presented in an easy to digest format, entertaining as well as educational. Go, buy, read. You can thank me later.
Getting Out Alive is available through all major brick-and-mortar bookstores as well as Amazon and other online retailers.
