Black Jack Derringer Book I: The Ace of Spades

This book is very hard to categorize. The best way to describe it is Mad Max meets the Old West. Very different and very cool.
Wild Alice West is a bounty hunter in a blasted wasteland called the Skillet. She has the skills but lacks the respect she deserves just because she’s a woman. She teams up with a mysterious albino named Mr. Treen. It soon becomes apparent he isn’t all he seems to be. Couple this with pirates and mutant horses and you’re looking at a unique and very interesting book.
There are many plot twists and turns, with more questions than answers.
It is a slim book and, like many good books, it was over too quickly. Very well written with some great action scenes.
Honestly, this was one of my favorite reads in the last year. Lots of fun and, being the first in a series, the promise of more to come. I’d have liked to see more back story fleshed out as to how the world came to be the way it is but I’ve been told this will be explained in future volumes.
Black Jack Derringer Book I: The Ace of Spades may be ordered here direct from the publisher.
