October 24
Posted on: October 24, 2012I keep looking at my list. And looking at it. Wonder why I’m hesitating finishing it? The water is a big issue. So many times after I’ve turned it off, I find something I need to hose down, or wash outside, which means turning it back on. I’m also reluctant to empty and winterize the hot tub..lol.. this is the perfect time to use it, as nights are getting very chilly.
When I did my morning massage with John, all the guys there seemed antsy, irritable, very much unlike them. I wonder if they’re having more problems from the locals concerning the mine, but I don’t want to ask. These guys might be miners, but they are also a bunch of the nicest guys I’ve met, and they’re trying very hard to fit in with the community. Doing a massage off to the side in the large dining area lets me be the proverbial fly-on-the-wall, totally ignored. These guys are from all over, literally, Lance is from Ireland.. I could listen to him talk for hours… lol. John is from North Carolina, but none of them are from Michigan. I think that’s intentional. Most of them have degrees in something related, like Management or Geology or specialize in explosives, but all of them are intelligent and polite; though their language is rather ‘rough’… guess it comes with the territory. Actually, that they talk like that in front of me makes me feel more accepted.
Well, the weather report isn’t good, expecting cold rains and t-storms for the rest of the week, so I drained the hot tub, and dumped the two gallons of a/f in, wrapped up the screen netting, and took down the umbrella. Another major project done, but I’m sure going to miss it. With it sitting outside on the deck, I just can’t afford the extra $100 every month to heat it during the winter. Oh, well.
Just read the whole thing, haven’t had time before. Really enjoyed it. Looking forward to the next installments!
Thanks for doing this. I feel as if I know you from all the groups and this just makes it better. Also, gives me courage to keep going.
