Grid-It Organizer
Posted on: June 11, 2014
What with all the magazines, books, and websites I read, I’m constantly coming across new products. Most of them are merely variations on a given theme, without really bringing a whole lot that is new to the table. Every once in a while though, I find something that really has that WOW factor. The sort of thing that you look at and say to yourself, Damn, now why didn’t I think of that?
That’s exactly what I thought when I saw the Grid It Organizer on the Survival Resources website. It is so simple and yet so incredibly useful!
The Grid-It Organizer is covered on one side with a weave of elastic webbing. As you can see, these webs are of different lengths and weave together tightly, with no room to spare.
Now, here’s how it works. You just take your smaller pieces of gear, such as ferro rods, penlights, batteries, match cases, whatever, and stuff them into the webbing wherever you’d like. Here, I’ve just grabbed several random items from my pack and put them into the Grid-It for illustration purposes.
Starting at the upper left corner and going clockwise:
—Boker Plus Vox Access Tool
—Stainless Steel Screw Top Vial (for carrying sewing needles)
–Exotac Matchcap
–Small keychain LED light
—Scout Firesteel
–Small magnifying glass
We all have various odds and ends in our packs, little stuff that always falls to the bottom of a pocket or pouch. With the Grid-It Organizer, you can keep it all in one place, easily found and accessible in an instant. The Grid-It comes in two sizes. The one shown above is 7.5″ x 9.5″. The smaller version is 5.5″ x 10.5″. Either of them will easily fit into all but the smallest bug out bag.
The Grid-It products were originally designed, I believe, for small electronics. Every gadget hound has a myriad of different wall chargers, cords, and such that can get all tangled together in a shoulder bag. With the Grid-It, everything stays exactly where you put it, tangle free and ready to go.
At the time of this review, both sizes are going for $13.95 each over at Survival-Resources.com. I’m tellin’ ya, this is one of those things that, once you have it, you’ll wonder how you got along without it!
