The Nite Ize BugLit is actually a mutant amalgamation of a few different Nite Ize products. They took their popular INOVA mini flashlight and added two of their Gear Ties and an S-Biner to it. The result is a handy light that you can prop up or hang just about anywhere. Very, very cool.

The light itself has three settings — high, low, and strobe. These are cycled through by pressing the power button on the top of the BugLit. A nice feature is that there is no automatic shutoff. You’ll find auto shutoffs on some flashlights and while that is a useful feature at times, I hate having it on any sort of work light. Just when I’m finally elbow deep into a repair, that’s when the light goes out. Not so with the BugLit.

The light unit is about 2.25″ long, 1″ across at the widest point, and about 0.25″ thick.

The “legs” of the BugLit are made from the Nite Ize Gear Tie products. Basically, a very strong internal wire that is covered in a tough rubber exterior. The legs hold any bent shape very well and the rubber coating prevents the legs from marring surfaces. The rubber surface is also grooved, which gives it some grip. From end to end, the legs are about 6 inches in length. These legs can be wrapped around poles or used to prop up the light, allowing you to place the BugLit exactly where light is needed the most.

The attached S-Biner is another of Nite Ize’s neat products. It is a small, gated carabiner. The S-Biner is just a hair over an inch in length. This allows you to hang the BugLit from any sort of cordage as well as from a zipper pull. Very neat.

The Nite Ize BugLit runs on 2 small 2016 3V lithium batteries. On high, the batteries will last about 10 hours. More than double that time on low.

I’ve used the Nite Ize BugLit both as a small work light as well as a reading light at night. It really is quite handy. Given the small size, you can store it just about anywhere. I keep one in my toolbox that travels everywhere with me. When working on the car and such, I find a stationary light like this to be even better than a headlamp many times.

Nite Ize has a ton of really cool, innovative products. You can check all of them out on their site.
