What is Disaster Readiness?
Many folks don’t know where to start when it comes to Disaster Planning. We want to help. From the beginning of Survival Weekly, Jim’s mission and passion has been to educate others. We at Survival Weekly believe planning shouldn’t be complicated, or out of the reach of anyone.
In this course we are going to talk about the basics of disaster planning. We’ll start off by defining what a disaster is, then go over some important aspects of planning such as clean water, food, keeping clean, and more. We’ll also talk about gear, the tools to help you when emergencies arise. Items such as flashlights, knives, and fire starters can be of great help and we’ll explain what to look for when shopping. Most of you have probably heard of emergency kits. We’ll introduce the various types of kits such as vehicle emergency kits and workplace emergency kits. And we’ll talk about pre-assembled kits vs DIY kits. We’ll also discuss how to decide whether to stay or go when it comes to an emergency. Once we’ve got you familiar with the terms and basics, we’ll dig a bit deeper into a few specific disaster types, and what you can do to prepare for them. Along the way students will have assignments and quizzes to reinforce their learning and help them create their own personalized disaster plan.
While the class assumes the student has little to no experience with preparedness, there are plenty of topics suitable for those who have some prior knowledge.
We look forward to helping you on your preparedness journey.
